By: L. Smith The car’s dark green paint peeled off its rusted hood and in waves; the stench of sodium-filled fast food lured its way out the open driver’s door. A student held the door open, holding a pristine college acceptance letter in one hand and a celebratory burger in the other. They gave the piece of paper one last look with a peaceful smile and tossed the meal into a nearby trashcan before igniting the car and leaving the parking lot to drive into a new chapter of life. The graduating class of 2021 has suffered through some of the most stress-inducing last years of high school that we’ve seen in a long time due to economic uncertainty caused by the ongoing global pandemic which raveled the world and resulted in permanent change, for the better or worse. “Covid has put a damper in my plans but not in an impossible way,” senior Savannah Wray said. “Right now it hasn’t affected me too badly.” Yet the road bumps that the graduating class is facing are simply seen as that, road bumps, something that disrupted their path to success but won’t serve to completely obstruct their journey through life. “After high school, I’d like to go on to do more school and hopefully become an Occupational Therapist,” senior Ralaya Herrera said. This road may lead to practical labor careers, trade school, or college depending on the student and their personal ambition. However, throughout all students, one thing consistently remains true, and that’s every student within the graduating class possesses a natural instinct and potential toward success and prosperity.

The golf team had a great year, and this year’s seniors had a huge impact on the team. The golf seniors are Jackson Illingworth, Ryan Wilkerson, and Ty Dixon. Some players have many heart-felt words to say about this year’s seniors. “All of this year's seniors represent EF very well,” sophomore Anatole Hurta said. “They are all very nice, and I am sad that they are leaving.” All seniors had an outstanding year playing with this team, and they also enjoyed every moment. “This year playing golf was all about competing and having fun on the course,” senior Jackson Illingworth said. Every moment spent with this team has left the players with lasting memories. “I have made memories with many of my friends this year playing golf, on and off of the course,” senior Ryan Wilkerson said. This golf season has been outstanding with the amazing seniors. They all played a huge role in this team and helped the underclassmen play to the best of their abilities. By: C. Creech |
