The whole team agrees that they have worked hard and improved from last year. “The team has definitely improved from last year,” Caleb said. “We have more potential, and we are more competitive. We have the desire to win!” After this game, the boys will continue to work to become better than they are now. They are looking forward to the next game. “I think the rest of the season will go great as long as we keep working to become the best,” freshman Kyle Storey said.

We have many people acknowledged in many different sports, but junior Chandler Bush recently went to state in powerlifting.
He has worked really hard to be where he is today in powerlifting. “I work really hard and push myself to do my very best in what I do,” Chandler said. For some people, sports are their life, and they have done it for a long time in order to be where they are. Chandler is one of them. “I have been lifting since the 7th grade, but I didn’t join powerlifting until my sophomore year,” Chandler said. “I am in powerlifting because I love to challenge myself to do my best, and I have to in this sport.” Chandler recently went to state for powerlifting after he was qualified at regionals. “I worked really hard to get where I was,” Chandler said. “I placed 13th out of 16 people. I feel like I could have done much better.” At the beginning of the season, Chandler set goals for himself. “I would like to get a scholarship to where I can do powerlifting in college and to probably make a life out of it. I feel like if I set high enough standards for myself, I will never have a problem achieving them.” By: K. Butenschoen, R. Herrera
Finding the perfect date, getting your hair and makeup done, trying on dress after dress, slicking back your hair, and putting on your tuxedo. The anticipation of loud music, lots of dancing, and good food are all signs of a fun prom. March 17, the juniors and seniors had their annual prom at the brand new Shreveport Aquarium. The night was filled with dancing, laughter, and everlasting memories. “My favorite part from prom is dancing all night with my girlfriend and taking funny pictures with her in the photo booth,” junior Dustin Beason said. Students had fun looking at the beautiful habitats for the animals, anywhere from turtles to fish and even ducks. This was by far the best prom with room for a few improvements next year. “I loved everything about prom; I just wished there was a more of a variety of music,” junior Katera Calhoun said. “There was a lot of country which not all of us could dance to.” This year was filled with ties for the schools royalty with Cameron Caudle and Jade Ashalintubbi winning duke and Kayla Evans and Makenna Lewis winning duchess. The 2018 class prom king was Jack Morgan, and the beautiful queens were Brianna Chandler and Holly Holden. “I’m glad that the people that won royalty were such strong role models in our school,” junior Lynnleigh Otwell said. In the end, prom was a successful night bringing lots of memories in such a beautiful building. The school is so grateful for everyone that helped out to make prom a night to remember. By: C. The tennis boys and girls have been working hard this season. Many players say it’s easy their first year, but others say it's quite hard just to hit it over the net without it going out. “I think that next year I will be better because we will be a little more experience by then,” freshman Will Ford said. “I will be able take what I know and combine it with what I have learned from others at the meets.” This year, over twenty students are playing tennis. Many students said they played because they wanted to try something new. “Tennis has been very fun,” freshman Ty Kirkland said. “I like that I get out of school early and can hang out with my friends all day. My favorite part is competing with Will Ford.” The students think about doing it next year, and they incourance the upcoming students from the middle school to play tennis at least once their high school year.
